My First Sewing Project!

Today's outfit is pretty basic. I was in a dress-for-comfort mood. I went out with my grandmother today for some shopping and lunch. She is one of the people I'm closest to in my family. She's probably one of my main influences when it comes to fashion, she always took me shopping when I was little girl - and still does. I remember hating shopping and trying things on, but eventually I loved it. Where would I be without her?! Thanks, Nonnie. Yes, I call my grandmother Nonnie. It's kind of dorky. Do you guys have any dorky grandparent-names or am I the only one?

Last night I completed my very first sewing project...a pillowcase! I've never made anything before so I'm really excited about it - even though some of you experienced seamstresses could probably make it in only a few minutes. After struggling with my machine for what felt like forever I finally figured everything out. I'm really excited about learning how to read a pattern and things like that. If any of you guys have some super-easy projects to share, I'd love to try them out!

And that's it on my bed! (Yes, I realize I'm way too proud of this little pillowcase.)

AWESOME!!! A pillowcase was a perfect first sewing project!!! Nice job~

And yes, I have a "Mimi and Baba" on my Mom's side and "Oma and Opa" on my Dad's side (they're German). I think Nonnie is a great name!

You should be proud! Nice job and I love how it goes with your bedspread. I call my grandmother's Nana and Dot Dot; and we called my great grandmother me-maw...so don't feel bad, you're not the only one:)

I love the pop of color in your outfit and the cardigan. Very nice comfy style.

Awww, grandmother time sounds so nice right now! Today is my grandma's birthday, so I had some quality phone time with her (I wish that she didn't live so far away!) :(

Your pillowcase turned out incredible! I love the fabric that you chose!

Aww I go shopping with my grandmother all the time too and it is one of my most favorite things to do. There is something so special about spending time with grandparents and I am so glad you are able to do that. :)

Also, great job on that pillow case! I love the material pattern you used.

Your pillowcase came out great! I used to hate sewing and most of the time I still do but it opens up all kinds of new options!

SO WEIRD!!! i call my grandmother nonnie, too!!!!!!!
it must be fate...or a common grandmother nickname.
congrats on the sewing project--it feels so good to do something (regardless of whether it's simple or not).
and i love the patterned sweater with the scarf--it is truly lovely.
