And the clouds burst to show daylight

Photobucket

Yesterday as I read Tieka's blog I couldn't help but be jealous of the lovely weather she was having and the great photos she was able to take (while I was barely able to endure my walks across campus in the bitter cold). But, it looks like Tieka's enviable weather moved my way today! I was so excited to check the forecast and see that today would actually be sunny.

I was really looking forward to taking some outdoor photos. But when I uploaded them I was very disappointed. I look horrible! I mean, I look sickly pale in these. And I'm not the kind of girl who tans, uses self-tanner or anything like that...but ick. And the shadows being cast on my face...I have this weird eye thing going on. My eyes look hollow yet baggy at the same time. Anyways, I uploaded them despite all of this because I quite liked my outfit. And I uploaded them to serve as a reminder; note to self: reposition according to the sun in the future in order to avoid weird eye shadows.

Cardigan - J. Crew; Dress, skirt - Urban Outfitters; Belt, shoes - Old Navy

I'm doing the dress-as-top thing again in these, mostly because I don't have any cute floral tops. I really want one for spring. I've had the belt forever - it's a butterfly (not sure if you can really tell...the extreme sunlight is makin' it look a little wonky) and I'm really not a fan of butterflies most of the time. They kind of make me feel like I'm twelve years old. So anyways, because of that I'm kind of biased against it and I've only worn it a few times, so I'm glad I finally put it to good use today in an outfit I actually liked and didn't feel twelve in.

Don't forget to enter my giveaway! It closes Saturday night at midnight!

Oh you're too hard on yourself, the photos are great, and trust us we know it's just the sun and shadows, not you! I love the dress as a top btw, the floral print is so cute!

your outfit is adorable!
i love the belt.
I hate it when my eyes look baggy! That is the worst.
But don't worry, I see no bags in these pics :)

The belt really makes this outfit. Definitely pick up some cute floral tops -- they'd look great on you.

Photography is all about light and, outdoors, the sharp contrast from direct sunshire is treacherous. Learning how to handle that harsh contrast isn't simple, but worth the knowledge.

You shouldn't be so hard on yourself, you look lovely! I really like using dresses as blouses too. Its so much easier than searching thrift stores for lovely blouses.

I think you look sweet and not too pale. But I'm not much of a judge, my family calls me "Casper" and they're pale too. Palest of the pale, sounds almost like a cool title, no?

Lucky you! I'm so over the icky weather here! I just love that pretty belt with the floral top - they work together so well!

Isn't is awful that an overcast sky is idea for taking photos?!

But you can't hate nice weather and the long shadows do look a bit playful and cute.

Love the outfit, great floral top!

There's just no way you look bad in these! Being pale is wonderful :D

And your outfit's so cute - usually I stay away from butterflies as well, but it works!

i love the whole idea of a dress as a top; you get two uses out of one piece and save the money! :) you look adorable though and definitely not sickly pale.

you're crazy! you are absolutely adorable in a decidedly non-twelve-year-old sense. You look far too graceful for that :]

lighting can be tricky...try shooting photos early in the morning, in the evening, or in complete shade ;)
