Arboretum.

So, my mom and I went to the Arboretum today. Unfortunately, it wasn't nearly as exciting as I expected it to be. Apparently we went a little to early and there wasn't much flowery colorful blooming going on. We're planning on going back at the beginning of May and hopefully I'll be able to get some better (as in, more springy and colorful and Arboretum-like) photos then. Until that happens I'm going to give these photos overly excited captions and pretend they are super interesting.

Me in front of some random green things! Amazing!

Standing amongst tree-ish shrubbery! Wow!

A wooden structure archway thingy. YEAH!

Sniffing a flower. Intense!

Photobucket

Swinging! WOOO!

Still swinging?!?!?!!

On a bench! (Note the teeny flowers behind me. COLOR!!!)

In front of yellow bush things! That's right, yellow!

PINK TREE?! (Ok, I actually did think this tree was really cool. I've seen pink blooms on a tree, but pink branches?!)

Headband - Forever 21; Top - Old Navy; Shorts - Cooperative (Urban Outfitters); Sandals - Nine West

Sorry for being touristy and wearing a practical but not terribly exciting outfit. I promise to be more interesting in the future. Coming soon: dry shampoo review and my first Modcloth purchase. WOOOO!

A Case of the Mondays.

I hesitated posting this outfit because I liked it less and less as the day went on. I'm not really sure why...I just didn't really feel like myself in it. I'll blame it on Monday.

Pretending to pick flowers for a close-up photo of my ring. These are the moments when I wonder if I'm just totally insane...

Top, belt - thrifted; Skirt - Old Navy; Sandals - J. Crew; Ring - local store

Not the best Monday ever. The highlight of my day was buying some dry shampoo (I'm terribly exciting). I've been wanting to try some out for a while and I finally bought this stuff by TRESemme today. I might do a little review of it if anyone's interested.

Do you use dry shampoo? Any tips or favorite products?

Summer Plans...

I had the loveliest Easter. Cleaned up my closet (which can get pretty scary), went to lunch with my boyfriend, then spent the rest of the afternoon playing tennis and lounging at the park. Oh, and I also got a free Waffle at the oh-so-classy Waffle House because my friend Hannah had a coupon. How was your Easter?

Hat - Charlotte Russe; Top, shoes - Old Navy; Skirt - Urban Outfitters; Ring - local store

I wanted to show you guys a close-up of this lovely ring my Mom bought me recently. I don't know if you can really tell from the photo, but it's a little bow. I absolutely love it. It was bought at a local jewelry boutique Elementality - a lovely little shop full of all sorts of handmade goodies.

Speaking of things I love, I'm so glad I bought this hat (you may remember it from this post). Last summer I remember seeing them on so many girls but I never thought they looked good on me. When I found this one for $10 I decided to go ahead and give it a shot. I can already tell I'll be wearing this a lot this summer.

Ok, on to the title of this post. It's officially one of my summer goals to meet at least one (and hopefully a few more!) bloggers over the summer. I don't have a lot of money, but I don't know how much longer I'll be this free as far as travel goes - unless I score a full time job over the summer, my schedule will be incredibly flexible and I don't know if life will stay that way much longer. After I transfer and start studying my major I have a feeling school-related things will get much more serious and I'll probably just have a lot more going on in general. That being said - if any of you are ever in the Asheville area, let's hang out! You totally have a couch to crash on.

But before summer even gets here I may be heading towards the DC area for a little weekend trip. I'll have a lot of free time on this trip, and I'd love to have someone to go exploring with! Let me know if you live in or near DC!

Oh, and here's Hannah and I being silly at the park.

It's a luscious mix of words and tricks

I think The Shins' Oh, Inverted World is really great driving-around-in-nice-weather-music.

Shrug - Forever 21; Top - Urban Outfitters (Silence and Noise); Belt - Gap; Shorts - thrifted; Shoes - Old Navy

I like this top a lot. But I've struggled when it comes to pairing it with other things because it's so darn skimpy. It's short, and I'm not really up for showing off my tummy - so I have to wear something underneath it or wear it with something high waisted. I'm really glad I found these shorts because I think the paper-bag-ish fit balances out the super-fitted skimpy-ness of the top. The shorts are actually denim, but you can't really tell in these photos...

I wore this shrug for most of the day because I'd feel a little silly wearing shorts and a strapless top when it's barely April. But I took some photos without it because I think I like the outfit better that way. What do you think? Shrug or no shrug?

P.S. I don't know why these shorts look so wrinkly, I swear I steamed them before I left the house.

Sakura

I just read the Wikipedia article on Cherry Blossoms, hence the title of this post (it's the Japanese translation). But my research has led me to believe that this is probably a Kanzan tree, not a Cherry Blossom. Sorry to mislead you with the title. Also, sorry to bore you with all this tree-talk.

Sunglasses - Target; Top - Gap; Belt, skirt - thrifted; Sandals - Nine West

Yes, I wore the same shirt two days in a row. You are entitled to think I am gross for doing so; but I am entitled to disagree with you. And maybe even wear it again tomorrow.

P.S. It's 84° in Asheville right now. Wheee! How's the weather where you are?

Trousers...?

Oh goodness, I can't decide how I feel about these trousers. I was so excited when I found them at the thrift store, because I've seen some amazing looks with ladies rocking trousers lately and I wanted a pair of my own. I wasn't gonna shell out big bucks for them because I knew there were tons lurking in thrift stores, I just had to find the right ones. I thought I'd finally found the perfect pair and I was quite pleased when I put this outfit together. But then my boyfriend said they looked "big." And when I first looked at these pictures, I wasn't so sure if I liked them...but the longer I look the more the trousers grow on me. In short, I need your opinions!

P.S. I think I've decided to nickname these "mants." Man + pants = mants. Man pants...mants...eh? It makes more sense than "jeggings," right?
