Want some Cynthia Vincents?!

Sorry for my blogging absence...and that I still haven't fixed my archive photos! As I said in my last post, I'm crazy busy. (And I have even more busy stress-ness going on now...but it's really good! Expect a post on that sometime next week. I'm so excited about it!) Things will be back to normal soon, I promise.

In the mean time. I've got some shoes for you! I bought these Cynthia Vincent's at Target, but I really wanted the yellow or black since I recently bought some brown shoes (the Yellowboxes from my last two posts). Soooo, I'm gonna try and sell these ones! They are brand new and still have the tags on them. They are a size 9 - BUT I usually wear around an 8 1/2 (anywhere from an 8-9 depending on the brand, etc.) and these fit me perfectly. Obviously I've never worn them, but I have it on good authority that they are super comfy!

So, I'm going to try this out and see how it goes, and if it doesn't work out I'll throw them on ebay. I wanted to try this first so that if any of you were interested you wouldn't have to compete with all the crazy ebayers out there, but I have no idea how well this will work. Here's my plan. E-mail me with a "bid." I'll update the post as often as possible to let you know what the current bid is. (Thought - this could also be done via commenting, but I totally understand if people would rather bid anonymously. Commenting would just be more instant and easy for you all to see when I'm not around to update. Ultimately, it's up to you and I'll keep updating the current bid from both comments and e-mails as often as I can. Sorry if that was really confusing.)

Sound good?

I'm gonna go ahead and request a starting bid of at least $35 (barely enough to cover the cost). We'll work out shipping depending on where you live. Eh?

On a dreary Monday...

Sorry about the whole Photobucket issue - my archives are a mess right now! I need to transfer all my images to Flickr and edit all my posts at some point, but I'm swamped with schoolwork right now so that's gonna take some time. In the mean time, head to my chictopia, lookbook or weardrobe to see my past outfits!

Ok, onto today's outfit. This t-shirt and jeans combo is a good go-to for when I'm in a hurry or want to be comfortable. And it's easy to add accessories to (such as this big silly headband). Today I went with my trusty mustard scarf since it was a bit chilly/cloudy/rainy.

Socks vs. Toes

When I went to Urban Outfitters yesterday I bought these socks (for $1.99!) and some new nail polish. So my toenails were freshly painted and it was hard to decide whether or not I wanted to show off my toes or socks. As you can see, I went with socks. I figured there will be plenty of time for cute toes as the weather keeps getting warmer...but people might think I'm crazy for sporting socks in July.

Remember this dress? I've worn it as a shirt a few times. I told you here that you'd see me wearing it as a dress soon...but I really don't wear it as a dress that often. The more I look at these photos the more I think it is just kind of unflattering. What do you guys think?

These are the new shoes I mentioned. I figure they're the closest thing I'll ever get to these Jeffrey Campbell lovelies. (And way cheaper...)

As for the Cynthia Vincent's, I'm still determined to get my hands on some. More news on that to come.

It's been quite a while since my last post, and unfortunately that's the way it's gonna be for a while. I've got soooo much stuff going on right now, so blogging is getting pushed to the back burner for the next few weeks. I'll try to post/comment/read sporadically during this time and return to regular posting ASAP.

(I just realized these are the EXACT same colors I wore in my last post. I feel so boring...)

Lace and Chambray

This weekend was good but busy. As I mentioned in my last post, I saw David Sedaris on Friday night! He was incredibly funny. I mean, obviously his books are hilarious - but I can't believe how much funnier it is just to hear and see him reading. It makes me want to buy one of his audiobooks. If you are a fan of his and you ever get the chance to see him I highly recommend it! The event was a little pricey, but totally worth it. And if you aren't a fan of his yet then you need to go out and buy yourself one of his books! I'd recommend Naked, I've read most if his books and it's my favorite so far.

Saturday and Sunday I spent with my mom shopping and lunching and cooking and all sorts of fun stuff. I was searching for some spring/summer shoes (I don't own ANY wedge sandals?!). I finally found one pair, which I'm sure you'll see soon. I'm still dying to get my hands on these:

I hope they make their way to my local Target soon!

Alright, back to finishing up Sunday night chores - homework, cleaning, and getting ready to start my new job tomorrow!

Mountain View.

Wore this to class and out to sushi with my madre. Thanks for lunch, Mom! For dessert we had Deep Fried Tempura Cheesecake. With ice cream. Oh my gosh, you guys. Yum.

Hat - Charlotte Russe; Top - Wet Seal; Shorts - Calvin Klein (vintage/thrifted); Bag - Coach (vintage/thrifted); Shoes - Old Navy

Black is usually my go-to when I can't decide what to wear or nothing else looks right. I got this top on super-sale at Wet Seal for $3, along with a few other things...including $1 floral leggings which I'm super excited about. You will definitely be seeing them soon.

I've been admiring Maria's adorable little vintage Coach bag for a while - I'd even considered buying one on ebay. But then I found this one while thrfiting! Whee!

Thank you guys for all your support, comments, and congratulating. I feel really guilty about neglecting all your blogs because I'm so busy with end of the semester school stuff and starting a new job, but I promise I'll catch up soon! You guys are awesome.

Ok, I have to go get ready to see David Sedaris tonight!

Dry Shampoo Review

When I mentioned in this post that I'd bought my first ever can of dry shampoo a few of you said you'd be interested in a little product review. As I said, I've never used dry shampoo before, so I can't really compare this to other products but, here goes!

It's from the TRESemme Fresh Start line - which I think is fairly new. It's the most affordable dry shampoo I've found at my local drug store (5.7 oz. for under $5). The line includes a few more products which you can see here. The website also includes a helpful how-to video on application if you've never used dry shampoo before (like me!). I bought mine at Walgreens and I've also seen it at Target, so you could try those stores if you're interested in buying it.

Product specificity aside - I'd like to go ahead and say that dry shampoo may be the greatest thing that ever happened to me. How did I live for so long without owning some?! It saves me so much time. I was in the habit of washing my hair every other day; and I always felt that my hair looked better on the non-wash day. It was easier to style, less "fluffy" and fly-away-ish...just generally better looking. But of course a third day without washing would mean greasy looking roots. Not anymore! I can now wash my hair every third day and use the dry shampoo between washes.

On the first non-wash day I usually just apply the product to my roots and on the second day I might apply it to some of the under-layers of my hair as well. I was really amazed at how well it works. It absorbs oil and makes my hair looks clean. It also gives my hair a little bit of lift and volume at the roots; it doesn't weigh it down at all. It smells great, too! After application I let it sit for a minute and then brush it out.

The only real downside is the white powder. My hair isn't very dark, so after I brush it out the powder isn't visible but I think it makes my hair color look a little dull at the roots. But it's probably something that wouldn't be noticeable to anyone but me. I've been thinking about buying the Refreshing Mist. It's part of the same product line and can be applied after to "add shine" so that might help with the color dullness. Like I said, it isn't very noticeable but it might be if your hair is significantly darker than mine. I want to try out a dry shampoo with a colored powder - like Psssssst, which has different shades for each hair color - but it's sold out everywhere I look!

If you want to try out dry shampoo and are looking for something affordable (and you don't have super-dark hair) I'd definitely recommend TRESemme Fresh Start. Well, I think that covers it (over-covers it, really...I am too wordy) let me know if you have any other questions.

Today is pretty awesome.

Today has been a bit of an emotional roller coaster. Good news, bad news, good news. But mostly good news. I'll spare you the whining and just talk about the good news. You probably saw in my last post that I'm Teen Vogue's Best Dressed reader of the day! And I also got a job today!

And, as you can see, I got to wear my new Modcloth skirt today! This was my first Modcloth purchase and I absolutely love it. I'll definitely be a repeat customer. I love Modcloth's clothing and I love that they support bloggers. Speaking of which, I'm on their blog! I'm wearing the outfit from this post. Check it out:

Alright, now I have to go do my taxes. (Bad news.)

P.S. Where do you guys host your photos? Do you upload directly from blogger? Sometimes I feel like sites that do that load really slowly...but maybe not? I keep almost exceeding my Photobucket bandwidth and I'm looking for a free alternative.

Teen Vogue Snapshot!

Sorry for the lack of outfit posts (I think I'll have a post tomorrow); I'm overwhelmed with end-of-the-semester school work right now. It's 12:30 AM and I'm working on a presentation for class tomorrow, but I had to stop and tell you about this!

Photobucket

I'm on Teen Vogue Snapshot! Hooray! You may recognize the outfit from this post. Go check it out!

Flower child.

I found this lovely vintage lace blouse at the thrift store recently. I almost abandoned it at the checkout when I discovered a couple stains on the back, but I'm glad I decided against it. It was so easy to style. I felt a little hippie-ish in it today. Eh? Maybe that's just because I was laying around in the grass and admiring the blueness of the sky.

Oh, goodness...an iPad commercial just came on. When I first heard about the iPad it seemed sort of silly to me...I kept wondering how I'd actually use/hold it. But Apple got me with their mesmerizing commercials and catchy songs. Not that it matters, I can't afford one! But even if I did have extra cash to spend on electronics I think I'd buy something different. A Macbook, a new cell phone or a new camera. A camera is at the top of my list. Which reminds me - what kind of camera do you use? Do you like/recommend it? I'm hoping to buy one with birthday money in a couple of months, and I have no idea what I want!

Casual Friday.

It wasn't until after I'd gone out that I realized my tripod wasn't in my car. So yeah...these pictures aren't so great.

Dress (worn as shirt) - Gap; Belt, sandals - Urban Outfitters; Pants - thrifted

I wore this last night for a delicious sushi feast. I threw this outfit together because the pants and sandals are new and I was quite eager to wear them. Snagged the pants at the thrift store and I looooove them. The fabric is so light weight. Hooray for summer pants! This outfit makes me want to go the beach. Ok, everything makes me want to go to the beach...but this feels very walking-around-a-beach-town-in-the-evening.

Well, my stomach is growling and I have a big to-do list I need to get going on. Hopefully I can catch some sun today too! What are you doing this weekend?

Arboretum.

So, my mom and I went to the Arboretum today. Unfortunately, it wasn't nearly as exciting as I expected it to be. Apparently we went a little to early and there wasn't much flowery colorful blooming going on. We're planning on going back at the beginning of May and hopefully I'll be able to get some better (as in, more springy and colorful and Arboretum-like) photos then. Until that happens I'm going to give these photos overly excited captions and pretend they are super interesting.
