Note to Self: Do Not Wear Heels to Work.

My feet are killing me! I knew it was a bad idea to wear these to work. But nothing else was as cute with this outfit! Lesson learned.

I ordered these tights via ebay for around $7. I was excited to find them so cheap, but they are really low quality. Today was the first time I'd worn them and they already have a few small rips and runs. Ugh.

Sorry for slacking on commenting and replying. I've been super busy this week, but I really miss reading everyone's blogs. I'm determined to catch up this weekend.

Thanks for all your sweet comments, you gave me hair-confidence!

Haircut.

My super-sweet boyfriend endured the cold today to snap these photos for me. As you can see I got a haircut! And if you follow Erin at calivintage (and you totally should!) you can probably tell that my haircut was inspired by her. But she definitely pulls it off better than I do! I'm not sure how I feel about it yet...still getting used to it I guess.

Headband - Forever21 (I think?); Dress - Forever21; Cardigan - J. Crew; Tights - Gap; Boots and bag - thrifted.

Sorry about my weird facial expression in these...

Welp, I'm off to go shopping!

I Can't Believe It's Only Tuesday!

Seriously though...it feels like it should be Thursday at least.

Necklace - local store; Cardigan - Lucky Brand; Tank - Old Navy; Boots - Gianni Bini

This outfit is from this weekend. I wore it out to dinner and dessert with my boyfriend and his parents. For dessert we went to The Chocolate Lounge - which is a must-visit if you ever come to Asheville! Definitely one of my favorite places in the city. So many unique and yummy things and anything chocolate you can imagine. I've never gotten anything I didn't like there - including the maple/brown sugar/bacon ice cream I got this weekend. Yes, ice cream with bacon. My boyfriend kept saying how gross it sounded, but he tried it and loved it!

Sorry about the extreme close-up/brightness here. I told my boyfriend to get a shot of the details on the cardigan and my necklace...but he needs to work on his photography skills.

So, today I started my sewing class! It was fun. But I felt a little left behind. It's a beginner's class but everyone else seemed to have a little bit of experience. (It took me forever just to finally get the machine threaded correctly.) The woman I shared a table with was just as inexperienced so we laughed it off and tried to figure things out together. I actually got a sewing machine for Christmas that I haven't taken out of the box because I had no idea how to use it. My teacher said we could bring our own to class if we wanted, so I'm excited about learning on my own machine! We're supposed to make pillow cases next week. Perhaps I will share a photo if they don't turn out too terribly. I'm so excited about picking out fabric though!

Oh, also I got a haircut today...which I will show you soon!

I'm curious about domain-buying. How to go about it, the cost, pros/cons, etc. Those of you who have purchased your domains, I'd love your insight/advice. And feel free to send me an e-mail if you don't want to share all that info in comment form.

Dusk.

I've been slacking on updating/reading/commenting. I started work this week and I can't believe how busy and overwhelmed I feel already.

Necklace - local store; Top - Forever 21; Cardigan - J. Crew; Skirt - Urban Outfitters; Shoes - Old Navy

I wore this yesterday for lunch and a movie matinee with my boyfriend. We saw The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. It was...odd. But I liked it. Lots of amazing visuals. I tried to find some screenshots to show you, but nothing does it justice quite like this trailer:

Anywho. We were going to go to the parkway and take some pictures, but we ran out of daylight. So I ended up with these...taken at the visitor's center, haha.

Well, I'm off to do homework and watch TV. The Office comes back tonight, woot! And Project Runway is on!

Colors!

Winter is dreary and depressing. And I had a bad day today. But colors are cheery.

Scarf, tank top - Old Navy; Cardigan - J. Crew; Skirt - Urban Outfitters, Oxfords - Forever 21

Well, I'm off to do homework. sigh.

Zooey!

Whenever I'm feeling really blah and uninspired (i.e. today) I spend time looking at pictures of people/things that inspire me. Today is a Zooey Deschanel day. I know some people dislike her or think she is overrated; but I think she is so talented, chic and admirable. I love her style. It is exactly the style I aspire to have - vintage, feminine, unique. I think she is a brilliant actress and musician. And although I obviously don't know her, she seems to be a genuinely sweet person.

In Desperate Need of a New Camera and Tripod...

I apologize in advance for how crappy these photos are. As I've said, I have a cheap camera and no tripod. I was also in a hurry this morning.

Scarf - Urban Outfitters; Dress, leggings - Forever 21; Cardigan - J.Crew; Boots - Alloy

This dress is very sheer and floaty but has great pleating. Unfortunately, you can't really tell in these photos. I had to layer up, I wore my warmest pair of tights underneath these leggings. I still froze, but oh well.

Today I (reluctantly) started classes again. One of my professors is Irish, which is pretty awesome if you ask me. Other than that...ick. I already hate my Economics class. I can't wait until the fall when I can take classes that actually interest me.

Despite the dread of classes I am still cheery. Why? BECAUSE HOUSE IS ON TONIGHT. Finally, after weeks of hiatus I will be reunited with the wonderful Hugh Laurie.

School Girl

I promise this blog will be more than just me posting photos of things I want. (I plan on doing an outfit post tomorrow.) But, I have to return to class tomorrow which reminded me...I really want a brown leather satchel to carry my school books in. I've been dying for one ever since I saw An Education.

I'm starting my new job at Urban Outfitters next week (eee!) and if I can refrain from buying everything there, I will save up my paychecks and buy myself a lovely new satchel.

Even though Christmas is over...there are always a few things left on your wish list you didn't get, right? What's left on your wish list?

Jewelry Lust

I am a bit of a pendant addict. Necklaces are my favorite type of jewelry and I am crazy about all of these...

I discovered the Old Gold Boutique via Our Paper Moon. Check out her blog, it's one of my favorites!

Arctic, bitter, frigid, icy, etc.

(scarf and belt - Gap, tank top and cardigan - Old Navy, jeans - Charlotte Russe, boots - Payless)

As my title suggests, it was really cold today. I need to work on my photo-taking skills (as in, not cutting my head off) but today it was just too cold to spend forever outside trying to get good photos. These might be the last outdoors-y photos I can shoot for a while because I'm leaving home to head back to college tomorrow. This means less private outdoors-y type places to shoot photos. It's also tricky because I don't have a tripod. So unless my boyfriend is willing to venture out in the cold and play photographer...my photos are going to get slightly boring.

Speaking of photo-troubles, I don't have the best camera in the world and I'm in the market for a new one. My budget is small (probably less than $200) any suggestions on a good camera? Blogging is what I'll use it for most, so it doesn't have to be amazing...just better than my current one.

Surreal.

Hi, I'm Jessica!

About six months ago I discovered the world of fashion blogging via Chictopia. Some of you reading this may recognize me from there, as that's where I originally discovered your blogs and that's why I'm following you now. I probably won't add a link to my Chictopia until I start updating it again along with this blog. I've abandoned it recently because I've been wanting to start a blog of my own, something more personal and more in my control...and here I am! I figured the beginning of a new year was the perfect time to start.

After a few months on chictopia I found myself spending more time on the personal blogs of my favorite bloggers then on Chictopia itself. Not that I'm dissing Chictopia - I love it and will continue to use it; after all, it's what brought me here. BUT the more time I spent on those blogs the more I wanted one of my own. To do sharing of my own AND to be able to comment and participate in the more personal blogging world. So here I am. Many of you who I've begun following may not know I've been loyal reader for a while, and I'm so excited to finally be able to start giving you feedback and hopefully receiving some from you as well.

This time last year I wasn't aware of the fashion blogging community. I was simply a girl who loved clothes. Now I'm starting my own personal blog and on my way to earning a degree in Fashion and Interior Merchandising.

So, here goes. This is so surreal and I'm really exited to see what 2010 has in store for me.

(And I promise my next post will have style photos...)

Oh, and I'm really new to the whole layout/HTML sort of stuff so if you have any tips on how to improve my blog I'd love to hear them. Or anything else for that matter. I welcome all feedback/questions/etc. Leave a comment or contact me here!
