Birthday present to myself.

I finally did it! I bought a new camera! Say hi to my brand new Canon Rebel XS. Here are some of my first photos with it...

I can't wait to learn more about how to use this thing...it's so fun! If any of you have the same camera...or a Canon...or just any sort of photography knowledge in general - I'd love to hear from you! Tips, helpful books/websites, techniques, etc. - I'm definitely no photography expert (until yesterday I'd never used anything fancier than my old point and shoot) but I'm eager to learn!

P.S. There are a few more here.

What a great gift for yourself. Isn't amazing how clear slr pictures are.

Your pups are still sooooo cute.

My one rule, is that I try really hard not to use my flash. I love photos with natural light, even if it's dark.

Oh Yay! What an awesome gift to yourself. I hope you have tons of fun learning to shoot in manual. Pick up this book: Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson. It's great!

i have a canon eos xsi that i purchased 2 winters ago - and the first thing i did was take TONS of pictures of my pups.

my advice is just to test, test, and test features. tinker with the manual setting - open the aperture, and make the shutter speed faster. i'm not technically proficient by any means, but i learned almost everything just by playing around. pioneer woman also has some great tutorials!

Oh my gosh your puppies are the cutest little things EVER!!! I can't get enough cute puppy photos keep them coming!

I bought a canon rebel xs about a month ago, and it was the best decision I have made regarding my blog. Although I haven't a clue how to use it, my boyfriend is now my permanent photographer.

Yay! Does it have a remote? ;)

I've always used Canon cameras - film and digital. I think they're the best! I only switched to a Nikon this year as a friend was gracious enough to give me a used D80 when my DSLR broke. I mean, who can say no to a fancy free camera?
